What's trending in Denim.
Updated: May 5
2019 has proven to be an exciting year for denim styles. For an avid denim lover like myself, it's a really great time to be alive! With so many fresh denim trends taking over the run-ways and street style, I decided to do a little sifting and bring to you three of the trends that have really caught my attention.
1. The Paper Bag Tie-belt Jeans.
The Paper Bag Tie-belt waist brings a different twist to the ever beloved and very trendy high waist skinny jeans. What I love about this jeans, is that it's a look that can take you from day to night, which makes it an ideal wardrobe addition. Its fit is a comfort boy-friend fit, which means it allows you to achieve the ultimate style goal, staying stylish while still maintaining comfort.
The jeans are offered in various styles including light wash, dark wash (like the pic above) and pin-striped. Styling options for these jeans are endless. You can keep them casual, by pairing it with your basic t-shirt and flats or you can dress it up by adding a fun blazer and some statement heels.
2. The Not-so-skinny Jeans.
Admittedly, I am a huge fan of skinny jeans, so I'm not yet sure how I'm feeling about this trend. What I can say, is that it's one that is everything in denim style right now, and definitely one that I'm keeping my eye on. The not-so-skinny or anti-skinny jeans which it has become popularly known as, is loose fit and projects a very laid back and relaxed denim look.
Popular silhouettes in this jean style include the boot-cut and wide leg (featured in the pic above). The style of the jeans is described as chic and comfortable by style sites such as the Zoe Report. If your personal style is more out-doorsy and relaxed, this pair of jeans may be a great addition to your closet.
3. The High-rise straight leg
Pop Sugar calls the High-rise Straight leg, "the more stream-lined and elegant version of the boyfriend jean". The look of the jeans has a more tailored finish when compared to the 'baggy' or 'mom' jean silhouettes. It's elegant finish means the jeans can be easily transitioned from your day to night look, which in my book is always a winner for a closet addition.
That's my list for today. The three trends I've discussed here, are just a few among the many new denim styles making their way onto runways, street style and into our favourite retail outlets for 2019. I'd love to hear your thoughts on them. Are you feeling them? Have you tried them? Are there any other denim trends that have caught your eye? Let me know in the comments below.
Till then take care and remember to..Stay Stylish.
